A Landscape of Vineyards and Hills

Monferrato is characterized by rolling hills that extend between 100 and 300 meters above sea level, creating an ideal environment for the cultivation of fine vines. Among these, Barbera, Moscato, Dolcetto and Malvasia stand out, vines that give life to high quality and internationally recognized wines. The region is crossed by rivers such as the Tanaro and the Orba, which enrich the landscape with their valleys and offer picturesque views.

Un Paesaggio di Vigneti e Colline

Monferrato is rich in history and culture, with numerous castles, towers and ancient villages that bear witness to a glorious past. Among the main attractions, Bubbio hosts the medieval castle of Bonifacio del Vasto, while Augusto Monti, an important twentieth-century teacher and man of letters, was born in Monastero Bormida. In Nizza Monferrato, the Foro Boario and Palazzo Crova are obligatory stops for lovers of historical architecture. Acqui Terme, with its Roman origins, is famous for the Bollente thermal spring, a nineteenth-century aedicule from which sulphurous water flows at 75°C. The city is also home to the Cathedral of the Assumption and the Castello dei Paleologi, which houses an important archaeological museum. In the municipality of Castelnuovo Don Bosco, it is possible to visit the Sanctuary of San Giovanni Bosco, founder of the Salesian Order. Albugnano is known for the Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano, an 11th century Romanesque masterpiece, while Castell'Alfero is the birthplace of Giovan Battista De Rolandis, creator of the Italian Tricolore.
